Step 7. Expanding Your Market
#1 Expanding your market to niches that you are not currently working.
Face it, there may be one or several markets that you are currently working and doing well with. For me that’s Motorcycle/powersports shops, small engine shops and car shops. In order to grow your local market you will need to expand out into other niches that you are not currently involved with.
One of the best ways to do this is to leverage your relationships (ask for referrals) as well as using the AMSOIL tools to learn more about other markets. AMSOIL has a great set of training manuals on various markets in the Field Sales Tools section of the dealer zone.
#2 Expanding outside your local market.
One of the best ways to reach customers outside your local market is to do trade shows. AMSOIL Dealers can setup booths at trade shows to attract leads and potential customers. The best shows for us are “closed” type of shows. This are niche industry specific where business owners come to interact, learn new things about their industry and see new products. We’ve done Tow Truck Operator Shows, Motorcycle dealer shows, Logging Shows, Fleet type shows just to name a few.
With shows, you can attract customers from across a region or expanded nationally. There is some upfront cost associated with this type of marketing but it can be effective. Lets say you register 20 new accounts at a show (we’ve registered more than this at single events) and 5 of them begin to buy AMSOIL on a regular basis. Lets say it’s a motorcycle show. Over the next year they spend $400/month average on AMSOIL products. That would be $2000 per month, and your commission would be approximately $400 or $4800 per year. You build a relationship with these customers properly and they could buy for years to come. The cost of your show may be one to two thousand dollars upfront but the potential for long term residual income is tremendous.
Going to a trade show where there are thousands of potential prospects that get in front of your both can help you build a large and profitable AMSOIL business.

The other way to increase your market outside your local area is to use the internet. Today, millions of people use the internet everyday to research and buy products. Others use the internet to sell products. Besides selling AMSOIL locally we suggest you learn how to use the internet effectively as a tool to reach potential AMSOIL customers all over the United States and Canada. We will be developing an online guide to effectively marketing your AMSOIL business on the internet.
