Recent email from a dealer in our team.
Dear Michael,
First BNI meeting went very well with several personal orders. I do have two questions:
1) When selling product out of my personal inventory, what documents the sale? Are their Amsoil receipts I need to order?
2) One potential account is a ranch ministry (several 4 wheelers, grounds keeping equip). Do I, just set them up as a preferred customer, or commercial account? How do we address their tax exemption?
My Answer as follows.
Hi Robert
1. When selling out of your personal inventory you will want to track what you sold so that you can calculate your profit and loss as well as figure out what you have sold. When first starting out, using a simple receipt book from an office supply store will work. You can also using something like an invoice template in excel or some other program. I have one you could copy and use. AMSOIL Invoice this should work for you. As your business grows and as well as your inventory, you might want to consider using a program like AMSWIN, which is a software program specifically designed to track inventory for you an AMSOIL Business. You can learn more from www.amswin.net/
2. You will want to register them as a commercial account. Order g-1007 which is a commercial account registration packet. There will be a tax exempt form in the packet.
Always qualify a customer, offer them the best AMSOIL program that meets their need. If they qualify for a commercial account then give them a commercial account. As always the only thing that trumps an account is if they want to be an independent dealer. In this case it probably wouldn’t happen but many commercial or retailer accounts have decided to be independent dealers.
Good luck with this new customer.
Lastly, BNI and other networking organizations are great places to meet new potential customers, dealers and accounts. You will also build your network which will help you in the long run by allowing even more people to learn who you are and what you do.
Keep up the great work!
Michael
As you see in the email and response above, there are many ways to get out there and build a business. Networking, or getting in front of people is a great way to do this. Many time, dealers don’t know how or where to get leads from. Prospects are everywhere and it’s up to you to do what you think is best. Networking is a proven way to attract business.
