If you are an AMSOIL Dealer and would like to get the most out of your business, read this post.
Below is a recap of recent correspondence between myself and another dealer. This dealer also owns and operates a automotive repair shop; he sells, uses and recommends AMSOIL products to his customers. When this dealer got started, he became T-1 certified so that he and his shop would show up on the AMSOIL Dealer Locator. Now, AMSOIL also lists installers in a separate tab of the online locator. The best way to get found, however, is still through the AMSOIL Dealer Locator.
Below is the text of the email conversation:
Michael,
I don’t show up as an Amsoil dealer on their website? Did I fall out of the T-1 or because I am listed as an installer does that take me off the dealer list?
My Answer:
I just checked, and it looks like you lost your leads qualification. As soon as you meet the requirements below you will be placed back on the dealer locator.
Here is a review for your information:
T-1 Certified Dealers must meet some simple, performance-based eligibility requirements to receive leads and appear on the Online Dealer Locator. There are two options by which Dealers can maintain eligibility:
Option 1: Earn a minimum of $10 in commissions in the last six months and have at least one new, personally sponsored customer (Dealer, PC, RA, CA) in the last six months.
Option 2: Earn a minimum of $10 in commissions in the last six months and have at least five current, personally sponsored customers (active Dealer/PC, protected CA/RA).
Meeting these requirements is not unrealistic for any Dealer working the business; doing so simply demonstrates the ability to sponsor and generate sales. All T-1 Certified Dealers will be re-evaluated on a monthly basis to ensure they’ve met these requirements. Dealers who do not meet the requirements will not be eligible to receive leads or be included in the Online Dealer Locator; however, they will remain eligible for co-op support. T-1 Certified Dealers who become ineligible for the Leads Program and the Online Dealer Locator will be reinstated when they meet the performance-based prerequisites for inclusion. Since T-1 Certified Dealers are evaluated monthly, a Dealer who becomes ineligible one month will be reinstated the following month if he/she again meets the minimum requirements.
Dealer responds that few leads come his way:
Ok. No great loss I guess. I can count on one hand the number of leads I got off of Amsoil’s website anyway 🙁
Whoa wait a minute, let’s back up. My response:
Well it’s not just leads, it’s customers AMSOIL assigns you as well as calls you get when someone stops in or just customers that show up.
Even if you only got a few leads per year being listed on the AMSOIL Dealer locator could result in hundreds or even thousand of dollars in commissions. (over the period of years) What if someone in your area owned a fleet? or wanted to become an AMSOIL dealer that then went on to build a large AMSOIL business? (Matter of fact I know of 2 dealers that are registered because of your T-1 listing).
Honestly, for the little commitment required by an AMSOIL dealer to maintain T-1 leads certification I would say you would be CRAZY not to take that seriously.
No matter what, even if it was one lead per year, which I would truthfully say I guarantee it’s many more than that (possibly 1-2 leads per month or more) passing up this opportunity is short sighted on your part.
It’s my hope that you would understand how this program work, I’m looking forward to helping you get the most out of your AMSOIL Business.
So lets just get a new registered customer and a $10 commission and you will show back up on the AMSOIL Dealer Locator.
Sincerely,
Michael Sparks
